Our Curriculum

At Bright Kiddies Preschool, we believe that the development of children is achieved by making learning attractive and enjoyable. Children are inspired by adult-led and child-initiated activities, which not only include play but educational fundamentals as well.

We follow a broad-based curriculum to ensure each individual child is supported and has a variety of opportunities to learn and develop in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Accordingly, the EYFS Statutory Framework sets the foundation of our curriculum and provides challenges for each child individually whilst preparing them for school, with the aim ‘to bring play and teaching together.’

Prime Areas

We support children to develop a positive sense of themselves, and others and to have confidence in their own abilities; to form positive relationships and develop respect for others; to build social skills and manage their feelings; to understand appropriate behaviour. We encourage this by providing varieties of group and turn taking activities and well-resourced role play area to extend their learning and development.

As children continue to grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in the four specific areas. These are mostly used for children over the age of 3 years old but can also be relevant for younger children.

At Bright Kiddies Preschool we encourage and give children the opportunity to experience a rich language environment; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves, speak and listen in a range of situations. We encourage the children to follow instructions connecting ideas or actions. Children are encouraged to use language to investigate and explore, to reflect on their experiences. We achieve this by providing varieties of both cultural and English books, flash cards, pictures and use props and correct words when telling and acting stories.

We encourage and provide the opportunity for children to be active and interactive in other to develop their co-ordination, control and movement.  We support them to manage their own personal needs and hygiene including feeding and drinking by themselves, dressing up and attending their toilet needs and making their snacks and food choices.
